Excavation & Grading in Sicklerville

We excavate and grade properties throughout Sicklerville, on both the Winslow Township and Gloucester Township sides. We trench for sewer and water services, dig footings, regrade yards, remove pools and slabs and prep driveway bases. Because utilities and permits differ by township and address, we confirm both before digging.

One community, two townships

Sicklerville isn't a municipality of its own. It's a community that falls within both Winslow Township and Gloucester Township in Camden County. A Sicklerville mailing address doesn't tell you which township your property is in, and that affects who issues permits, who inspects the work and which utilities serve the lot.

Sewer depends on the side

Sewer service is provided by either the Winslow Township Department of Municipal Utilities or the Gloucester Township Sewer Utilities Department, with wastewater treated by the Camden County MUA. A lateral repair is coordinated with whichever department serves the address.

Water has three possible providers

Water may come from the Winslow Township Department of Municipal Utilities, Aqua New Jersey or New Jersey American Water, depending on the address. We confirm the provider before trenching a water service so the connection and inspection go through the right utility.

Service line trenching

We camera sewer laterals first where we can, so the trench is sized to the failure. New pipe goes on bedding at a uniform grade, and backfill is placed and compacted in lifts so lawn, walks or driveway over the trench don't sink later.

Markout and hand exposure

Every dig starts with a utility markout. Near marked lines, we expose by hand, and we ask about private lines — irrigation, low-voltage lighting, feeds to sheds — that a markout won't show.

Footings for additions and garages

Footings are excavated below frost depth to undisturbed bearing soil, with loose fill removed from the footprint. The excavation is inspected by the correct township before concrete is placed.

Regrading yards

Pooling water and runoff toward a foundation usually trace back to grading. We map elevations, locate a legal outlet and reshape the lot for a continuous fall away from the house, without moving the water onto a neighbor.

What we excavate for

Common Sicklerville projects:

  • Sewer lateral and water service replacement
  • Footings for additions, sunrooms and garages
  • Lot regrading and swale restoration
  • Pool, deck-footing and slab removal
  • Base excavation for driveways and patios

Removals done right

Pools, slabs and deck footings are removed and hauled away, not buried. The hole is filled with suitable material in compacted layers and graded to drain.

Concrete base prep

Before a new driveway or patio, we excavate below topsoil and soft soil and build a compacted stone base for even support.

Soil and backfill

We assess soil as it's excavated. Where it won't compact well, structural areas get imported fill; native soil is reused only where it suits, such as finish grading.

Water in the hole

Excavations that take on water are pumped, and we let the bottom firm before setting pipe or forming footings.

Trench safety

Deeper trenches are sloped, benched or shored to suit the soil, with spoil kept back and open excavations protected.

Permits from the right township

We obtain permits and inspections from Winslow or Gloucester Township as appropriate, including approvals for work in the right-of-way.

Restoration

When the work is complete, we fine-grade, add topsoil and repair disturbed hardscape, leaving the yard ready to seed.

Emergency sewer work

When a sewer backs up, our crews are available around the clock.
