Concrete Driveways & Patios in Voorhees, NJ
Voorhees Township, Camden County. Family-owned, licensed and insured, and self-performing every stage of the work since 1979.
We replace driveways, patios, walks and steps across Voorhees Township. Driveways poured with the earlier developments are now thirty to forty-five years old and reaching the end of a normal service life, and slow-draining subsoil makes pitch and base critical. We rebuild on compacted stone, shape every slab to shed water, and restore the yard around it.

Development driveways at the end of their life
Voorhees is largely a 1970s-through-1990s township. Driveways poured with the earlier developments are now thirty to forty-five years old, which is about what concrete laid without much of a base can be expected to give. Owners notice cracks widening, sections settling, surface flaking near the street, and joints at the garage breaking down.
When the whole slab is aging out, replacement on a proper base is the better investment than chasing cracks.
Slow-draining ground under the slab
Much of Voorhees sits on dense subsoil that drains slowly, and the land is flat to gently rolling. Water that gets under a driveway stays there, freezes, and lifts the slab. A compacted stone base gives that water somewhere to go. Toward the Kresson and Gibbsboro edges the soil is sandier and drains better, but the base still matters for supporting loads.
Patios that send water to the basement
So much of our Voorhees work is drainage that patios deserve special mention. A back patio that has settled toward the house delivers rain straight to the foundation — a frequent cause of seepage in finished basements here. Replacing it with a slab pitched away from the house, sometimes paired with a drain at its edge, turns the patio from part of the problem into part of the solution.
Grading around new concrete
Many Voorhees developments never quite achieved their original grading plan. When we pour a new driveway or patio, we look at how the surrounding yard drains and shape the edges so water moves away from the house and off the slab, rather than pooling against it.
Townhome and condominium communities
Voorhees has many townhome and condo communities where walks, stoops and drives may fall under an association. We work with associations on scope, scheduling and specifications, and stage the work so residents keep access as much as possible.
Removal
We break out old concrete with the right equipment, load it and haul it away, protecting lawns, beds and neighboring surfaces on the access route.
Building the base
After removal, we excavate below soft soil, remove anything that won't support a slab, and install stone in compacted lifts. On cut-and-fill lots, we watch for soft fill zones and dig them out rather than paving over them.
Pitch, reinforcement and joints
Forms are set to a planned fall away from the house and garage. Slabs are reinforced, control joints are cut at proper spacing so cracks form where intended, and new concrete is isolated from the house, garage and walks so each can move independently.
Walks, steps and stoops
Front walks and stoops settle and crack along with the driveway. We replace them on the same base and can match the finish so the front of the house looks like one job.
Aprons and the street
The apron takes salt, plows and turning traffic. We build it to meet the street cleanly. Voorhees approvals for right-of-way work are filed by us.
Utilities first
New Jersey American Water provides water in Voorhees and the Voorhees Township Sewer Department handles sewer. We have every utility marked before breaking concrete, and if a line under the driveway needs replacing, it's best done while the slab is out.
Choosing the right season
Concrete cures best in moderate weather. We schedule most Voorhees flatwork from spring through fall, avoid pours ahead of freezing nights, and plan around heavy rain so fresh concrete isn't damaged before it sets.
Expanding a driveway
Many Voorhees families have outgrown single-car or narrow driveways. Widening is a common request, and the new section needs the same compacted base as the rest. When the existing slab is aging, we often recommend replacing the whole driveway at once so the old and new sections match in color, finish and joint layout, and so the new part isn't tied to an old slab that's about to fail.
Pool decks
Pool surrounds poured in the 1990s are reaching the same age as the driveways. A cracked or lifted pool deck is a trip hazard around wet bare feet. We replace decks on a proper base, pitch them away from the pool and the house, and joint them so cracking stays controlled.
What a finished job looks like
When we leave, the new slab is clean, evenly finished and jointed, the edges are backfilled and graded so water runs off rather than under, and the lawn along the concrete is ready for seed. All debris is gone. The real test comes after the first hard rain: water should leave the surface quickly and move away from the house, with no puddles left standing on the slab.
After the pour
We'll tell you when the new slab can take foot traffic and when it can take a car, and how to treat it through its first winter. Keeping harsh deicers off new concrete protects the surface.

Voorhees questions, answered.
If it's cracked, settling and flaking across the slab, replacement on a proper base is usually better value than repeated repairs.
Yes, if the old patio tips toward the house. A new slab pitched away from the foundation stops sending rain at the wall.
Yes. We coordinate scope, specifications and scheduling with the association.
Work in the street right-of-way generally needs township approval. We handle it.
