Concrete Driveways & Patios in Marlton, NJ
Evesham Township, Burlington County. Family-owned, licensed and insured, and self-performing every stage of the work since 1979.
We replace concrete driveways, aprons, patios and walks throughout Marlton and Evesham Township. Driveways in the 1970s and 80s subdivisions were thin pours now failing at the apron and heaving where street-tree roots got underneath; Kings Grant and Marlton Lakes bring long wooded drives. We rebuild on compacted stone with pitch built in.

Two waves of Evesham, two kinds of driveway
Evesham grew in waves, and concrete problems follow them. The 1970s and 80s subdivisions off Greentree and Elmwood Roads have driveways that were poured thin and are now failing at the apron and lifting where street-tree roots worked underneath. Kings Grant and Marlton Lakes run older and looser, with bigger wooded parcels and driveways that can be long and winding. Newer infill off Route 73 sits on correctly placed fill, so concrete calls there are usually about new patios and pool surrounds.
Failing aprons
The apron — where your driveway meets the street — takes plows, salt, and every car turning in. On thin original pours, it's usually the first part to break up. Replacing just the apron can make sense if the rest of the driveway is sound; if the whole slab lacks a base, the failure will keep moving up the drive. We'll show you which you have.
Apron work in the street right-of-way generally needs township approval, which we handle.
Street-tree roots
Mature street trees in the older subdivisions have spent decades sending roots under driveways. As roots thicken, they lift slab sections, creating trip edges and broken joints. When replacing, we expose the roots, work with what can be safely managed, and plan the base and edges to reduce future heaving — without harming the tree more than necessary.
Long drives in Kings Grant and Marlton Lakes
On larger wooded parcels, driveways can be long, curved and shaded, with utility runs underneath that are surprisingly long and shallow. Long drives need careful drainage planning so water doesn't run their full length and pool at the garage. We set pitch to shed water off the sides at intervals, and we locate shallow utilities before excavating.
Silt layers and a high water table
Evesham soils run from silty loam to sand, with dense silt lenses that perch water a foot or two down. Near Marlton Lakes and the Kings Grant ponds, the seasonal water table comes up close. Water trapped under a slab freezes and lifts it. A compacted stone base gives that water a path out, and on wetter sites we'll talk about drainage alongside the slab.
The base
We break out the old slab, excavate below soft soil, remove anything that won't support concrete, and install stone in compacted lifts. That base spreads vehicle loads, drains water from underneath, and keeps the slab flat through freeze-thaw cycles. It's the part of the job you don't see and the part that decides how long the driveway lasts.
Pitch on flat ground
Marlton is close to flat, so pitch has to be built into the forms. We set a planned fall away from the garage and house and toward the street, the sides, or a drain. Puddles on a driveway turn into ice and surface damage.
Reinforcement and joints
Every slab is reinforced, jointed at proper spacing so cracks form in straight lines, and isolated from the house, garage and walks. That keeps movement where it belongs.
Patios and pool surrounds
In newer neighborhoods off Route 73, we build patios and replace pool decks on engineered fill. In older parts of town, a patio that has tipped toward the house is a common source of basement seepage; a new one pitched away from the foundation fixes that.
Walks and steps
Front walks and steps heaved by roots or settled at the stoop are trip hazards. We replace them on a proper base and can match the driveway finish.
Utilities and lines under the drive
The Evesham MUA provides water and sewer for most of the township. We have utilities marked before breaking concrete. If a sewer or water line under the driveway is due for replacement, doing it while the slab is out avoids cutting new concrete later.
Choosing the right season
Concrete is poured best in moderate weather. Extreme heat makes the surface cure too fast and can weaken it; a freeze can damage a fresh slab. We schedule most Marlton flatwork from spring through fall and work around rain so the new driveway goes into its first winter fully cured.
Shade and moisture on wooded lots
Driveways under heavy tree cover stay damp longer, collect leaves and grow moss at the edges, and those conditions speed surface wear. On wooded Kings Grant and Marlton Lakes properties we pay extra attention to pitch so water leaves the surface quickly, and we recommend keeping leaves cleared from the slab in fall so moisture doesn't sit against the concrete through winter.
How the job runs
Mark utilities, protect the site, break out and haul away old concrete, excavate and compact the base, set forms and reinforcement, pour, finish and cut joints. We'll tell you when it's ready for foot traffic and for your car, and leave the site clean.
